Welcome to Champaign Unit 4 Family Information
During the application period, parents will be asked to complete an application indicating school choices. Applications will be available at the Champaign School Family Information Center . All applications received during the application period, regardless of date, will be processed equally. Parents of students will be notified by mail of their school assignment. Families who choose to request a voluntary transfer for their student(s) and parents of incoming kindergarten students must submit an application and list at least 5 choices in rank order (1,2,3,4,5) from among the district’s 11 elementary schools.
The District uses a computer system to process applications. Factors and priorities which will affect student assignments include: parent choice, building capacity, socio-economic status, availability of special programs, presence of siblings in the school, and proximity preference.
Families who do not receive their first choice school will be placed on a waiting list for that school. The waiting list will expire each school year at the completion of the first semester. Families who are still interested in their first choice school must REAPPLY each year during the transfer request period. Your child will NOT automatically be placed back on the waiting list from year to year.
