Students are using similar programming commands used by computer scientists and electronic game developers to create their own multimedia projects. “Our students are being given opportunities to use the computer the way scientists and engineers are using them today, “ says Kathleen Harness, Gifted & Enrichment teacher at Dr. Howard Elementary School.

Online Course Credit
High school students in Unit 4 have the option of completing some curriculum requirements by using online curriculum resources including NovaNet and NOVEL.
- NovaNet provides opportunities for credit recovery in a classroom setting. Both Unit 4 high schools and Columbia School have student licenses to NovaNet.
- NOVEL is a state funded online curriculum option for students participating in the Truants' Alternative Optional Education Program (TAOEP). It offers flexibility in time and for students needing credit recovery for graduation. Students interested in learning more about the program should contact their school Attendance Outreach Worker.
