Q. What do I have to do to participate in athletics at Centennial High School?
A. It's easy! Every athlete must be cleared. A student-athlete must turn in (a) a current physical and (b) the blue parent permission/insurance liability waiver form included with this packet. These forms must be turned in directly to me. I will then give a clearance form to you to take to the coach. This will be the only way by which a student will be allowed to begin practice. For fall sport athletes, practice begins on Monday, August 14, 2006 (except for football and boys/girls golf which begin on August 9). I will be in the Athletic Office to clear fall athletes on Monday through Friday, July 31 through August 11 from 7:30 am until 12 noon each day. Don't wait until the first day of practice to get cleared. The line will be long, and you'll be late to practice.
Q. What time should I report to practice on Monday, August 14, (or Wednesday, August 9 for football and boys/girls golf) and where will practice be held?
A. When you come in during the weeks of July 31 through August 11, information about times and places for fall practices will be available.
Q. What teams have try outs and cuts, and what teams do you automatically make as long as you attend all practices, follow training guidelines, etc?
A. Currently, sports in which tryouts are held and cuts are made to select the team include: golf, swim, soccer, volleyball, tennis, basketball, baseball, softball, cheerleading, and dance. Sports that do not typically make cuts include: football, cross country, wrestling, and track.
Q. Can I participate in more than one fall sport?
A. Probably not. With practices being held virtually every day in each sport, participating in more than one sport in a season is very difficult. You can still participate in up to three sports each school year. (For example, a student could play football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and baseball in the spring.)
Q. Do all sports have freshmen or JV teams?
