Bob Madix (1956):

Madix lettered three years in baseball, two in football and one in basketball.  He was shortstop, team captain and most valuable player in baseball his senior year. The team made the State Sectional finals, and he set school season records in runs batted in, hits, and runs scored – a record that stood for 37 years. As starting quarterback he led CHS to an 8-0-1 record and the Big 12 Championship.  That year the offense averaged 344 yards total offense per game.  Against Urbana his passing led to a thrilling 21 – 12 victory.  He was co-valedictorian of his class.  Madix graduated from the University of Illinois with honors in chemical engineering in 1961.  As a starting outfielder he earned three varsity letters in baseball and was awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 1960.  He earned his Doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley and joined the faculty of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University in 1965.  He has received many professional honors.
