Janet Ingrid Ensrud (1978):

Janet was the Big 12, Regional and Sectional mile champion and third place finisher at class AA state meet in 1977. She was the first place finisher at the 1977 National AAU Junior Cross Country Meet. She was a member of the volleyball team that placed fourth at the Illinois Class AA state meet. In 1978, Janet became the Big 12, Regional and Sectional mile champion, and won the Class AA one mile run at State. She became the first high school female athlete to run a sub-five-minute mile (4:56.62) in Illinois. She became a three time All-American in cross country at the St. Olaf College in Minnesota. In 1979, she became the 1500 meter, mile and 2 mile champion at the Minnesota collegiate meet and also placed first at the Steamboat Classic and Pepsi Sweet Corn 10K. She became the cross country and track record holder in the 5000 meters at St. Olaf College. Janet was selected by News Gazette as 1 of 10 top female area athletes of the 1970's.
