1947:  2nd Place in State in Wrestling at 127 pounds

1948:  State Champion in Wrestling at 138 pounds

Norton Campton (1948):

Nicknamed “Pete”, Norton was a right halfback his senior year on the 1947, 8-1, team. He was a member of the 1947 Big 12 Championship team where he scored 3 touchdowns. Norton lettered in wrestling. He paced 3rd at state his sophomore year at 138lbs. Norton was the only undefeated wrestler, 17-0, on Champaign’s Big 12 and State Championship team. He was co-captain with Norman on the 1947 team. Norton wrestled at the University of Illinois at 136lbs. He was a Big 10 Champion and 4th place finisher at the NCAA’s in 1952. In 1953 he was named team captain. He was the Big 10 Champion at 136lbs and voted most outstanding wrestler. He placed 2nd in 1953  at the NCAA Championship.
