SENIOR (2011): Started in
all 53 games at short stop… was one of only
two players to start in every game… hit .267
on the year with 51 hits, 25 runs and 19
RBIs… was 3-for-7 in stolen bases… hit .321
in OVC contests… had 15 multi-hit games and
five multi-RBI games… posted seven, two-out
RBIs… went 8-for-14 with a runner on third
and two outs… recorded a season-high five
hits and four runs in the second game of the
doubleheader at Morehead State on April 10…
went 7-for-10 with five runs and four RBIs
in the doubleheader at Morehead State on
April 10… only recorded one hit in his final
nine games of the season.
JUNIOR (2010): Started in all 53
games at short stop… was one of only two
players to start in every game… ranked
second among OVC starting shortstops with a
.946 fielding percentage… hit .316 with 62
hits, 27 runs and 23 RBIs… was also 5-for-6
in stolen bases… posted a .352 slugging
percentage and a .376 on-base percentage…
posted a team-best .390 batting average in
OVC contests… hit .393 (11-for-28) with
runners in scoring position during OVC
games… also hit .857 (6-for-7) with runners
on third and two outs in OVC contests… had
16 multi-hit games… hit safely in 24 of the
final 26 games of the season, highlighted by
a team-best and career-long 16-game hitting
streak… reached base safely in the final 26
games of the year… batted .375 at Coaches
Stadium, hitting safely in the final 11 home
games of the year.
SOPHOMORE (2009): Played in 22
games, making five starts… hit .452 on the
year with 14 hits, 12 runs and nine RBIs…
also posted a .645 slugging percentage and a
.538 on-base percentage… played in four OVC
contests… went 2-for-2 at the plate with
bases loaded… also hit .500 (6-for-12) with
runners in scoring position… went 10-for-16
at the plate with seven runs in games played
at Coaches Stadium… hit his first career
home run with EIU on April 15 against
Blackburn College… went 5-for-5 with three
runs, two RBIs and a double versus Chicago
State on April 1.
FRESHMAN (2008): Played in
37 games, making 27 starts… hit .229 with 22
hits, 12 runs and seven RBIs… went 2-for-2
in stolen bases… hit .255 during OVC
contests… made his first career start on
March 10 versus IPFW, starting at short
stop… collected his first career hit on Feb.
23 at Southeastern Louisiana State… had five
multi-hit games… posted a season-high three
hits against UT Martin on April 6… also
scored a season-high two runs against UT
Martin on April 6… had five, two-out RBIs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a three-year
letterwinner in baseball… also lettered four
times in golf and twice in basketball…
earned Big 12 Conference and Champaign
News-Gazette recognition in 2006 and 2007…
as a shortstop Cam helped high school to back-to-back
conference titles in baseball during his
junior and senior seasons… also helped
basketball team win the conference title in
2006… was named high school’s male athlete
of the year as a senior… earned a
scholar-athlete award… also played for the
American Legion Post 24 team in the summer…
played for John Staab.
PERSONAL: Son of David and Nancy
Strang… father played collegiately at Ole
Miss. Cam currently is working as aid at
Central High School and is an assistant
baseball coach at Jefferson Middle School.
