2008 – The 2008 girls track and field team had more individual success than team success this year. If not for a number of disqualifications at Secionals, many of the girls would have qualified for State. With only four seniors: Spencer Bolden, Jennifer Hood, Jasmine Rhodes, and MVP Ermanda Roberts, the team looks like they'll be in pretty good shape for next year.
2007 – Coaches Argie Johnson and Christopher Shultz. The 2007 girls track team had a decent season., with numerous highlights including six girl making it to the State track meet. The track team had seven seniors; Catherine Calcagno, Heather Fears, Jennifer Fitton, Amy Foltz, Peggy Jones, Sylbi Koster, and Tareka Munroe. Seven News Gazette honors were given to freshman Jordan Slade, Juniors Shelby Strang, Ikea Allen, Diamond Sturkey, and Tareka Munroe, and seniors Ermanda Roberts and Peggy Jones. There are high hopes for 2008.
2006 – Coaches Argie Johnson and Christopher Shultz. The 2006 season was a growing season for the girls track team. The team was led by seniors Ebony Pearson, Hillary Fears, and Kristina Russell. Even though they did not win any of their meets, they had a lot of new talent that will be sure to shine in future seasons.
2005 – Coaches Shultz and Stirrett. The 2005 Girls track team had an amazing season. they did well in many meets, including a 4th place finish at the Big 12 Conference meet in Mattoon. At the Sectional invite at Charleston the girls came in 5th out of 15 teams, placing higher than Big 12 teams like Urbana and Mattoon. Central was also able to beat four school records. They include Cammelle Ward for the 200M, Lanna Bartko for both the 100H and 300H, and the team of Peggy Jones, Kristina Russell, Lanna Bartko, and Kimberly D'Amico for the 1600M relay. The season ended after seven girls made it to State.
2004 – Coaches Martinez, Franklin, Stirrett, and Shultz. The 2004 girls track team had its share of triumphs and disappointments. Although many of the team's 35 girls were underclassmen and had never run track before, the team was enthusiastic and eager to learn. Kim D'Amico qualified for State in long jump and Cammelle Ward qualified for State in the 200m dash.
2003 – Coaches Martinez, Varland, and Woods. Having only two seniors this year, the girls track team was young. Some highlights of the season were the 4x100m and the 4x200m relays placing in the Sectional News Gazette Honor Roll. The 4x200m relay won the conference title. The 4x800m relay team also placed 3rd at Sectionals.
2002 – Coaches Martinez, Varland, and Woods. The girl's team was young with only four seniors. Highlights from the season were the 800 medley, 400 relay, 800 relay placing at the honor roll, Conference, and Sectional meets. Shawanna Lee placed in the same three meets for shot and discus and qualified for State.
2001 – Coaches Martinez, J.R. Wilson, and Matt Woods. The girls' track team gained a lot of fresh talent from many new faces. They spent the year trying new things and learning from mistakes. Despite key injuries to their senior group, they were able to qualify for the state meet in the 800m medley.
2000 – Coaches Chris Saunders, Jodi Saunders, Lisa Martinez. The 1999-2000 girls' track team was led by Alli harvey, Shaneka Terrell, Chanell Beasley, Odile Mambo, and Jessica Ward. The maroons qualified for State in the 4x100m, and 800m medley relay with help from freshman sensation, Jessica Ward. The girls, however, were prevented from reaching their full potential due to several injuries throughout the season.
1999 – Coach Martinez. The girls' track team placed 2nd at the Big 12 indoor conference, and 3rd at the Lemont Invitational.
1998 – Coaches Lisa Martinez and Chris Saunders. The team took 1st place at the meet vs. Mattoon and at the Gene Armor Invite.
1997 – Coaches Anne Stabb, Lisa Martinez, and Kara Harmon. The Central girls track team had only 12 members this year, all were fairly young. Highlights were Janelle Johnson placing first in the triple jump, and second ion both long and high jump at Big 12.
1996 – Coaches Anne Stabb and Kara Harmon. Katie Townsend, Janelle Johnson, and Tamisha McClendon won All Area honors. Katie Townsend and Janelle Johnson went to State.
1995 – Coaches Anne Stabb and Kara Harmon. At the Chatham Invitational, Central star Katie Townsend set a new school record when she threw the discus an amazing 140 feet, 4 inches. The 3200 relay team which consisted of Emily Brinkmann, Katherine Scott, Heather Nalbone, and Allison Pickard, also set a new school record with a time of 10 minutes, 26.4 seconds.
1994 – Coaches Kevin Quinlan, Mark Thompson, and Skip Thompson. The 1994 girls track team went to State in four events. While at State, Katie Townsend finished 13th with a record-setting discus throw.
1993 – Coaches Thompson and Woods. This year's girls track team left their opponents in the dust. The team's impressive sprinters pulled the team through to a strong 12th place finish at the Thornton Indoor Invite. Runners from Central also placed at the State finals in the 800m medley relay, the 800m relay, the 200m run, and the discus throw.
1992 – Coach Gallivan. The girls track team this year took eighth out of eighteen teams at the East St. Louis meet. The girls also set a new 800m relay school record.
1991 – Coaches Johnson, Gallivant, and Weatherspoon. The lady maroons placed 5th at Big 12, 6ht at Sectionals, and went on for a 32nd place tie at State. Also at State, Kristy Harris placed 4th at State. This season, Kristy set two school records. One in the 200m and the other in long jump.
1990 – Coaches Baker and Roth. The lady maroons finished well in the Big 12 Conference and 9th at Sectionals. The seven girls who competed in the News Gazette Honor Roll meet represented well by being declared the unofficial team of the meet.
1989 – Coaches Brooks, Galvin, and Roth. State Qualifiers: Jenny Daniel- high jump, Audra Cowan- long jump, Christie Harris- long jump.
1988 – Coaches Brooks, Hageman, and Nelson. Diane Ryherd was the Big 12 discus Champion. In Sectionals, Central placed in the discus, high jump, 3200 run, and the 1600 relay. Central also had the most events represented in the News Gazette Honor Roll Meet.

1986 – Coach Crum. The girls track team this year was dominated by underclassmen, meaning successful seasons still to come. A great accomplishment this year was having a group of girls qualify for the News Gazette Honor Roll Meet.
1985 – Coaches Davidson and Anders. Kathy Davisson went to State in the two mile. She finished with a time of 12:09.
1984 – Coaches Harris and Ward. This was coach Gene Ward's first year coaching for the maroons. With only a few returning members, no one qualified for State. Coach Ward intends to change that in the seasons to come.

1979 – Coaches Fink and Mapson. The girls track team finished the season with a 6-6- record. They placed 5th in the Urbana Open, 3rd in the Conference, and 1st in the District. Four girls qualified for State (Vanessa Biggers, Helen Starks, Renae Cook, and Yvonne Oldham).

1977 – Coach Busch. Central sent five girls to State this year. One of these five was Jani Ensrud, who was the first girl in Illinois State history to break the 5.00 mile. She ran the mile in 4.56:7
