Losing Pitcher - Anderson (4-3)

Game Day Recap

Central (19-18) dropped a tough contest to Mahomet-Seymour in the regional championship game by a score of 11-9. Mahomet's leadoff hitter homered and the Maroons tried to play catch-up the rest of the game. Central fell behind by 3, and later 5 run margins, but battled back each time to narrow the deficit. The Maroons managed to climb within one run in the third inning and two runs in the seventh before bowing to the regional champions Saturday in Mahomet. The two teams combined for eight home runs on the day. Braden Anderson started for Central and was relieved by Timmie Johnson in the second and Mark Pataky in the seventh. Anderson lost just his third game on the bump this season. Harrison Freeland hit two homers and drove in four runs. Evan Ellsworth and Pataky each had two hits as well; Pataky's last being a home run to left to cut the lead to 11-9. Doug Kyrouac, Tony Giammaria, and Clint Miller each ripped a hit; Miller's being a solo shot to cut the Bulldog lead to 7-6 in the third inning. Nine seniors depart and the coaching staff would like to thank them for their dedication to the program. Thanks Aaron Beckemeyer, Drew Beard, Sean Cory, Bobby Hart, Evan Ellsworth, Adam Hawthorne, Timmie Johnson, Mark Pataky, and Nate Sokolski.
