Game Day Recap

Central defeated Urbana 8-5 in a regional contest on a warm, muggy Monday at historic McKinley Field.  Central jumped on top 8-0 early and starter Scott Runyan pitched his third complete game of the season  The Maroons nearly batted around twice the first two innings and Runyan wiggled out of a bases loaded jam in the 6th inning.  Kain Shirley led the offense with 3 hits and 2 RBI.  Jake Cribbett added 2 hits and 2 RBI.  Luke Beesley and Nick Brunson each hit a single that plated two runs.  Connor Mapes had a hit and scored 2 runs.  Kam Wells and Lucas Wilson each had a hit while Jake Snider and Jake Henss each scored two runs for the hosts.  Runyan retired 6 of the last 7 batters he faced to notch his sixth win of the season.  The Maroons (19-17) next travel to Rantoul on Thursday to take on Centennial in regional play.  First pitch which is slated for 430p at Rantoul Park District field. Go Maroons!
