2008 – Coaches Good, Hall, and Doyle. Central's 2008 volleyball team season was filled with consistent playing and a strong effort put up by the girls. Esther Kemper and Alex Pelmore were two underclassmen who really stepped it up this season. Senior co-captains were Shelby Strang and Andrea Miskimins. Shelby led the area in kills and Andrea led the team with assists. Strang was a fierce competitor, earning her the MVP award and receiving a spot on the News Gazette's All Area team. Miskimins was honorable mention along with Junior Kathleen Rowland, who had an amazing season and will be someone to keep your eye out for. the lady maroons got 2nd in the Bradley Tournament, and 4th at the Eisenhower one. the overall team record was 16-14, while their conference record was 4-5. They placed 6th at Big 12 and hope to improve next year. Next years lineup looks very promising with powerhouses such as Katie Donnelly, Maeve Aquino, Kathleen Rowland, Mariah Thomas, Esther Kemper, and Alex Pelmore.
2007 – Coaches Good, Pappas, and Strang. 2007 was a great year for Central Volleyball. The team ended their season with a record of 22-12 and were led by captains Shelby Strang and Kelsey Bannon. The team played in four tournaments and placed first in two of them. The team played Mahomet in the first game of the Regional tournament. After beating the Bulldogs, they played against Centennial in the Regional championship game. The team was unable to defeat the Chargers, but they gave them a good fight and kept the match close. At the end of the season, Shelby Strang was chosen to be on the News Gazette's All Area first team.
2006 – Coaches Good and Brookmen. The 2006 Central girls volleyball team had a wonderful year despite struggling to learn and grow under a new coaching staff. The varsity team was led by seniors; Jessie Roesch, Kailee Duvall, Brittany Hiner, Andrea Screiber, and Andrea Carmichael. they completed the season with a record of 15 wins and 18 losses. The season ended on a high note for the team when they won an upset against Urbana in the last home game of the season. Throughout the season the varsity team did well at the tournaments they went to.
2005 – Coaches Jones, Marassa, Gaston, and Brookhart. The team this year had great defense and played hard throughout the season. Highlights of the season include beating Normal West in two games. The team was led by co-captains Christy Burge and Abby Lange. In addition to the captains, the Maroons had four additional seniors, Mallory McMahon. Kristina Russell, Amanda Valbert, and Kaylan Wonser, who all pushed the team each day. Although the team had a 16-18 record, the season proved to be a success. With seven seniors returning next year, the Maroons should have another great year.
2004 – Coaches Marassa and Deterding. The 2004 Central girls' volleyball Coach Marassa had a handful of prospering athletes. With six returning seniors, Sarah Aquino, Danielle Spice, Cathy Feller, Cammelle Ward, Christine Fleener, and Nikki Cascone, the team looked promising. Cathy Feller, Danielle Spice, and Sarah Aquino were named to the All-Tournament team. The team ended with a record of 21-14, one of the the best in a while. The Conference record was 6-3. The season ended with a loss to Rantoul in the first round of Regionals.
2003 – Coach Mike Marassa. The 2003 Central volleyball team was led by seniors Alexis Morgan, Alex Ratcliff, and Maggie Henss. The three girls three girls were offered wonderful scholarship opportunities at some of the top universities in the country. For a second year in a row, the team was one of the best in the Conference. With only six girls graduating, the Maroons are sure to have another great season.
2002 – Coach Mike Marassa. The 2002 volleyball team had an incredible season. Not only did the girls have great success, but they had a lot of fun as well. The team won all of their home games and advanced to Sectionals. Captain Melissa David led the team and was a key player in the winning season. She also received All Area Player of the year. The girls look forward to next year's team, with nine returning seniors.
2001 – Coaches Mike Marassa, Nicole Bridges, and Nancy Strang. Although a record of 18-16 might not show what kind of a team they were, the Maroons definitely proved it out on the court. From the start of the season to tournament time, they have set high goals for themselves, the biggest being "success." The girls finishe 3rd in the Conference ahead of Centennial, and 11 of their losses came from number 1 seeded teams. the maroons also finished 3rd in the Mt. Pulaski tournament as well as 2nd in Regionals against Centennial.
2000 – Coaches Mike Marassa, Nicole Bridges, Nancy Strang, and Wendy Aider. The maroons volleyball team had a rocky start to their season. After losing almost all starters from last year, beginning of the season involved a lot of rebuilding. After defeating Stewardson-Strasburg, the maroons turned their season around and went on to beat other teams such as Danville, Decatur MacArthur, Urbana, and Bloomington. they also placed 3rd in the Mt. Pulaski Tournament. Melissa David led the team in kills and Shawanna Lee recorded the most blocks. Despite unsuccessful efforts for a regional title, the Maroons have a lot to look forward to next year.
1999 – Coaches Mike Marassa, Brad Dalton, and Colleen Madera. This years' volleyball team is composed of girls who have been playing together since seventh grade. the teams' closeness is one you have to see to believe. This year the girls won the Big 12 title and got first seed in the Regional tournament. Blowing past Mahomet and Lincoln, the Maroons won the Regional title. Central beat Bloomington in the first round of Sectionals but succumbed to Normal West in the sectional Championship.
1998 – Coaches Mike Marassa, Angie Palmer, and Colleen Madera. The girls had an outstanding season. They won both the Mt. Zion tournament and the Centennial tournament. They placed 2nd in the Big 12 conference and were Regional champions.
1997 – Coaches mike Deterding, Mike Marassa, and Jeff Scott. Central girls volleyball finished 3rd in the Big 12 with an impressive record of 23-13-1. they beat cross town rival Centennial both times they played them and got 1st place at the Centennial tournament. This talented team also earned the title of Regional champs.
1996 – Coaches Mike Deterding, Mike Marassa, and Jeff Scott. The captains this year were Amber Jenks and Julie Leman. In tournament play, the lady maroons placed 8th, 4th, and 7th. Central tied for 11th in the Big 12 with a 2-9 record. The season record was 8-21.
1995 – Coaches Mike Deterding and Craig Jones. The 1995 Central girls volleyball team placed third at the Jacksonville tournament, 3rd at Mt. Zion, and 6th at Mt. Pulaski. Central finished the season with a 8-3 Big 12 record and a season record of 19-11.
1994 – Coaches Anne Stabb and Mike Deterding. The 1994 girls volleyball team had an outstanding season. They finished undefeated and in first place in the Big 12 conference. The Maroons took the Regional crown by defeating Danville and Urbana. They then beat Washington and Bloomington to win the Sectional title. This was the the first team to do this since 1977 and only the fourth to do so in school history. They Maroons advanced to Super-Sectionals and were one of the Sweet Sixteen teams in the State, where their season ended.
1993 – Coach Jones. The 1993 Central volleyball season was a great success this year. The team won the Mt. Zion tournament for the first time in ten years. The Maroons were Regional champs by defeating Urbana and Centennial. The maroons ended their season with a great 27-11 record.
1992 – Coaches Deterding and Jones. The season this year was a solid one. The girls returned home from the Jacksonville tournament with a 4th place finish. The end of the season was close with only one conference loss. The team won the second consecutive Big 12 title with a win against Bloomington. After winning Regionals and advancing to Sectionals, the girls defeated the cross-town rival Centennial. The girls lost in the Sectional championship game and ended the season with a final record of 24-8 and a conference record of 10-1.
1991 – Coach Jones. Central had a winning record of 23-14 and were tri-champions of the Big 12 Conference. This was the first time Central has won this in nearly a decade. Central clinched the Regional title by defeating Rantoul.
1990 – Coach Jones. Season record: 15-17
1989 – Coach Miller. Coach Miller and senior co-captains Merissa Bainter and Nicole Osterbur led the team to a 15-17 record. Bainter was also named to the All-Conference Team and All-Area Team. In the Regional tournament Central defeated cross-town rival Centennial and also beat Danville. The two victories gave the lady maroons the 1989 Regional Championship.
1988 – Coach Miller. The volleyball team this year was plagued with injuries. With odds against them, the lady maroons still managed to pull off three wins, ending them with a record of 3-8.
1987 – Coach Miller. The volleyball team had a good season this year, finishing with 17 wins and 16 losses. Central took home the first place trophy at the First Annual Centennial Tournament. The lady maroons finished 6 and 5 in the conference. The girls entered Regionals as number one seed, defeated Urbana, and came home with the title as Regional champs.
1986 – Coach Miller. After having to forfeit the first three games of the season due to the writers strike, the girls volleyball team had a great season. After defeating centennial in conference play, Central was seeded first in Regionals. the title of Regional champs was taken in an unforeseen turn of events in the final match against Centennial. The team had a very strong junior class and expected to redeem themselves next year.
1985 – Coach Rasmussen. This was coach Rasmussen's last year coaching the lady maroons. The girls lost in the Regional Championship game to Centennial.
1984 – Coach Rasmussen. The 1984 varsity girls volleyball team finished with a 5-16 record this year. This makes coach Rasmussen's overall record at 165-70.
1983 – Coach Rasmussen. Susanne O'Reilly served 14 points in a row in one game. This is only one point shy of an entire match. Also on that subject, Sharon Ryherd served 12 points in a row during one of the games this year. The lady maroons beat Urbana in the Championship round of Regionals, making this the tenth year in a row that Central will bring home the title. The season record was 16-11.
1982 – Coach Rasmussen. The girls this year tied Mattoon for the Big 12 Championship title with a 6-1 league record. The end of the regular season record for the lady maroons this year was 13-10. The girls brought home their ninth Regional Champions title for the ninth year in a row. The team ended the season in the second round of Sectionals, finishing their season with a record of 16-1.
1981 – Coach Rasmussen. Central's volleyball team ended their season with a record of 18-6. The Maroons were the first team to win the Decatur MacArthur tournament two years in a row. This was a highlight of the season. Another highlight was when the girls won the Regional title for the eighth time in a row this year.
1980 – Coach Rasmussen. The volleyball team had a good season this year, bringing the district title home for the seventh year in a row. They were also Big 12 champions with an undefeated Big 12 season.
1979 – Coach Rasmussen. The volleyball team this year was led by five All Big 12 Conference players (Lesli Grifith, Jenny Miller, Linda Munnis, Sally Reilly, and Nancy Shaw) who took the team to Sectionals with 15 wins and 2 losses. This gave them the Conference title and qualified them for District.
1978 – Coach Rasmussen. Although rather young and inexperienced, this year's volleyball team was able to finish the season with a record of 16-9. By beating both Centennial and Urbana, Central still holds the record of never being beaten by either of these schools.
1977 – Coach Rasmussen. This year's volleyball team ended their season with a record of 23-5. Four of these losses were in tournament play. The fifth loss, and the only non-tournament loss was when the lady maroons lost to Hinsdale, giving them fourth place at State.
1976 – Coach Rasmussen. The Central girl's volleyball team this advanced to the super sectionals before losing to Shelbyville. The girls ended the season with an impressive record of 17-3.
1975 – Coach Rasmussen. This year's volleyball team came out as District champs after defeating Rantoul, Unity, and Centennial. They finished their near perfect season in the Sectional game against Westville. The season record was 12-1
1974 – Coach Lookingbill. This year's girls volleyball team set very high standards for the years to come. Central was proud to announce that the volleyball team went to the very first State games in Illinois history. Out of 730 teams, only eight were able to make it to the State games. This was not the only "first" to happen this year. In honor of the team's great season, the school held it's very first pep assembly that solely honored a female sport. This history-making team finished the season with a record of 12-2.
1973 – Coach Cattle. Season Record: 7-0.
1972 – Coach Cattle. The volleyball team this year did a phenomenal job this year finishing the season undefeated. Season Record: 9-0.
1971 – Coach Cattle. Season Record: 4-1.
