Students

Interested in a foreign exchange program? Rotary Youth Exchange is hosting an informational meeting Tuesday, October 4th, at 7:30 pm in the Illinois Terminal Building. (Vidoni 9/29)

Do you want to help your fellow students who were affected by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita? The Key Club is collecting school supplies. Bring notebooks, pencils, binders or anything else you can to room 223. (Key Club 9/30)

The Spanish Honor Society is sponsoring a field trip to Krannert on Wednesday, October 19th from 7:15-9:30 pm, to see Jose Porcel's Ballet Flamenco. This fun and lively Spanish dance program is open to all Central students enrolled in Spanish. Tickets for students are $12.00. The adult price is $24.00. See your Spanish teacher for Mrs. Sparks for more information. Money must be paid no later than Monday, October 3rd. (SHS 9/30)

Teachers

The Champaign-Ford Regional Office of Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program will be participating in Bergner's Community Days on November 19th, 2005. Our goal is to raise additional funds to help meet the education-related needs of homeless students in Champaign and Ford Counties. We appreciate the support of the community and we hope this will include selling and/or purchasing packets. If you are interested in purchasing a packet or have questions, please contact Sarah Croy at 893-1399. Money will be collected when packets are delivered. (9/29)

The Club will meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 6:00-8:00 at the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club, 211 E. Park Street, Champaign. These hours are for members ages 13 and up. The Teen Computer lab, the gym, and the games room will all be open. There will also be special events like movie discussion nights, rap sessions, and other activities suggested by teen members. The girls swimming and diving team BEAT Centennial Monday night 95-91 in a close dual meet. The victory broke Centennial's 10 year undefeated streak in dual meets. The Maroons are now 5-0 in dual meets this year. Way to go ladies! (Girls swim 9/22)

Representatives from the following colleges will visit Central next week. Monday: Valparaiso, Bradley, and Butler; Tuesday: Cornell College, Purdue, Illinios College and Springfield College; Wednesday: Lake Forest, Dominican, Knox, Evansville, and Greenville; Thursday: Washington University, ISU, North Central, Roosevelt, and Concordia Grace. The first Asian-American Club meeting will be on Wednesday, September 21, after school in room 206. Everyone is welcome. (Oberg 9/19)

Students interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT test should register in Seely Hall between Monday, September 19th and Thursday, September 22nd, before or after school. The cost for the test is $15.00. The Champaign Park District is seeking to contract, form partnerships and/or hire individuals or businesses, to provide varied recreational/instructional program services to participants at the Douglass Community Center. Proposers may offer to provide specific or varied recreation program services provided that they are consistent with the general nature of recreational/instructional program services to the public. All students are welcome to attend Central’s After School Tutoring Program where four teachers each day will be available for tutoring in a variety of subjects. This year the location has been moved to the Cafeteria, but the times have remained the same from 3:25 to 4:25 . The program is available every Monday through Thursday. Come take advantage of this free tutoring opportunity! (After School Program 9/8)

If you want to sit on a couch and eat free pizza at Friday’s game, don’t forget to buy your couch raffle tickets Friday before school and during lunch! (Student Council 9/8)

The Pepettes will host a 2nd tryout for all girls interested in joining the dance squad. The clinic dates are September 6th and 7th from 7-9pm in Combes Gym. Tonight will mark the 100th football game between Champaign High School and Urbana High School. The game will kick off at 7:00 pm and will be played at Tommy Stewart Field, located directly behind Centennial High School. The gates will open at 5:00 pm. Arrive early so you don’t miss the game. Students, if you have an activity ticket, you do not need to purchase a game ticket, If not, the tickets are being sold in the athletic office and at the game for $2.00.
