Students 

Interested in a foreign exchange program? Rotary Youth Exchange is hosting an informational meeting Tuesday, October 4th, at 7:30 pm in the Illinois Terminal Building. (Vidoni 9/29) 

Do you want to help your fellow students who were affected by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita? The Key Club is collecting school supplies.  Bring notebooks, pencils, binders or anything else you can to room 223.  (Key Club 9/30) 

The Spanish Honor Society is sponsoring a field trip to Krannert on Wednesday, October 19th from 7:15-9:30 pm, to see Jose Porcel's Ballet Flamenco.  This fun and lively Spanish dance program is open to all Central students enrolled in Spanish.  Tickets for students are $12.00.  The adult price is $24.00.  See your Spanish teacher for Mrs. Sparks for more information.  Money must be paid no later than Monday, October 3rd.  (SHS 9/30)

Teachers

The Champaign-Ford Regional Office of Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program will be participating in Bergner's Community Days on November 19th, 2005.  Our goal is to raise additional funds to help meet the education-related needs of homeless students in Champaign and Ford Counties.  We appreciate the support of the community and we hope this will include selling and/or purchasing packets.  If you are interested in purchasing a packet or have questions, please contact Sarah Croy at 893-1399.  Money will be collected when packets are delivered.  (9/29)

The News-Gazette School Spirit Award starts this week.  Look for the big ad with all of the area's school mascots that will be in every paper Monday through Friday.  Circle Central's mascot and bring the ad to the Media Center. We could win $250 to purchase new library books. (Hackman 9/28)

African American Club will meet in the library lecture hall on Wednesday, October 5th. Two important votes-officers and LA trip.  Be there. $5 for the year to join. (AA Club 9/28)

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, you may benefit from Camp Healing Heart.  It is a free camp from October 14-16.  For more information, see Ms. Johnson in the counseling office.  (Johnson 9/23)

The girls swimming and diving team BEAT Centennial Monday night 95-91 in a close dual meet.  The victory broke Centennial's 10 year undefeated streak in dual meets.  The Maroons are now 5-0 in dual meets this year.  Way to go ladies! (Girls swim 9/22)

Need a place to study and to get some extra credit tutoring after school?  All students are welcome to attend Central’s After School Tutoring Program where four teachers each day will be available for tutoring in a variety of subjects.  This year the location has been moved to the Cafeteria, but the times have remained the same from 3:25 to 4:25 .  The program is available every Monday through Thursday.  Come take advantage of this free tutoring opportunity! The Pepettes will host a 2nd tryout for all girls interested in joining the dance squad.  The clinic dates are September 6th and 7th from 7-9pm in Combes Gym.  The tryouts are scheduled for September 10th from 9am-noon in the west gym.  You must attend the clinic to participate in the tryouts.  If you have any questions, please contact Paige Stewart or Arielle Gross.  Also, you must clear in the athletic office prior to your tryouts.  We hope to see you on September 6th. Tonight will mark the 100th football game between Champaign High School and Urbana High School.  The game will kick off at 7:00 pm and will be played at Tommy Stewart Field, located directly behind Centennial High School.  The gates will open at 5:00 pm.  Arrive early so you don’t miss the game.  Students, if you have an activity ticket, you do not need to purchase a game ticket, If not, the tickets are being sold in the athletic office and at the game for $2.00.  Don’t miss this once in a lifetime event.  (Woods 9/2)
