"I would like to extend
a warm welcome on behalf of the Franklin
Knights. We take pride in being a culturally
diverse school that is committed to excellence. It
is our goal to be an exemplary school in the areas
of academic achievement, developmental
responsiveness and social equity. We'd like to
invite you to come and visit our campus where there
is something positive for everyone. Our focus for
the 2007-2008 school year will be reading. Join us
as we prepare for the future...one page at a time."
Through the
school year Franklin teachers have received awards and recognition
for their outstanding work with the community, our school and most
importantly our STUDENTS. A few of the top award recipients
are:
Shameem Rakha received the Illinois Golden Apple Award
Eric Immke has received the IESA Coach of the Year Award
Tracey Jones has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year
Award
On May 7th,
Franklin Middle School inducted 51 seventh and eighth graders into
the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). Inductees have
demonstrated a commitment to scholarship, leadership and community
service. Throughout the year, students have been involved in
service projects and have honed their leadership and organizational
skills. The induction took place at the Illini Union and was
attended by over 200 proud family members.
Franklin Middle School has earned the prestigious Spotlight
School Award. All Spotlight Schools made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP),
have at least half of their students from low-income families, and
have at least 60 percent of all students passing state achievement
tests in reading and math.
Franklin has also earned an Academic Improvement Award, which is
an honor for schools that have made substantial gains in
performance.
