Greek Mythology

This is a teacher c= reated unit written with the intention of providing students with a solid backgr= ound and understanding of Greek Mythology.&nb= sp; Students will explore:  what myths attempt to explain, why there are so many versions of t= he same myth, why myths are important enough to study, characteristics of th= e gods and goddesses, and aspects of religion in Ancient Greece.  Students will learn the story of= the creation of the earth and mankind, according to Greek Mythology, and illustrate scenes from the story.  They will examine and interpret the Greek Mythological Family Tree.  Students will read and act-out published plays of numerous Greek Myths, and evaluate and record = the myth’s meaning.  Final= ly, students will read a myth, compose their own script, and act-out their version of the myth for the class.
