We Value the Experience of Senior Citizens!
If you are over 55 and currently unemployed, we may have a place for you.
Through a partnership with the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), Unit 4 is able to offer internships and on-the-job training for senior citizens.  Keeping one's skills current and building new skills is more important than ever in today's workforce. As an intern, senior citizens can acquire recent knowledge and skills in many areas including, secretarial support, building maintenance, substitute teaching, telecommunications, food service, community relations and more. In his partnership, senior citizens work in district facilities receiving up to 28 hours per week of on-the-job training while they receive wages from  www.experienceworks.org. Individual internships can last for up to a year. The Experience Works organization receives funding from more than 70 public and private sources, and operates a total budget of more than $100 million. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that between 2000 and 2010, the fastest growing age group will be those between 55 and 64. In fact, by 2005, those 55 and older will be nearly 20% of the workforce.  If interested in becoming a part of this partnership, contact Stacey Parr at 1.800.368.7569, or e-mail at stacey_parr@experienceworks.org.   LEARN...EARN...and put your experience to WORK.
