As the principal of Edison Middle School, it gives me great pleasure to begin my third year in this beautiful community. I have been a teacher, a department chair, a counselor, and an assistant principal before becoming Edison's principal.  I believe that every child has the ability to attain every level of success that they desire, and are willing to work hard to achieve. Nelson Mandela once said “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Friday, September 10  SIP Day  Early Dismissal

Add the Edison Middle School - Champaign toolbar to IE or Firefox.  Then each time you shop at one of the more than 1,300 participating stores, a percentage of what you spend will be donated to us at no extra cost to you!  (you could even save money as the toolbar provides coupons and deals).  The toolbar also has a search box and each time you search the Internet, about a penny is donated to us.  No registration is required!  http://www.goodsearch.com/toolbar/edison-middle-school-champaign

What careers might be a good fit for your child?
All 7^th and 8^th grade students have taken an interest and skills survey and created portfolios at www.careercruising.com.  Career Cruising is an online career guidance and planning system and is new to Unit 4 this year. Students will continue adding to the portfolio in high school to help plan their future whether that is a job right away or college. You may log in at this site using:

Then to see suggested careers for your child ask them their log on with their school username and lunch code.

Save Boxtops for Education! 
Start saving those Boxtops for Education labels that you find on General Mills products!  Turn them in anytime. Just put them in an envelope or baggie and send them with your child to their teacher.  Each class will get whatever money they have collected to put towards technology.  We will be collecting all year so hurry up and eat your General Mills products to start collecting!  You can also turn in Campbell’s Soup Labels!

Any student interested in trying out for any of our athletic teams must have a current sports physical, completed Champ. Unit 4 form and written proof of insurance.  No one will be allowed to tryout without all three pieces of information completed and turned in by the set deadlines.  See physical forms at the bottom of the page.  Questions?  Email Ms. Borchardt.

Physical Forms
The Student Physical Forms are now available online. The physical forms have recently been revised at the state level. The forms are available online at www.idph.state.il.us/pdf/cert_child_health05.pdf. The form can be downloaded and completed by the child's physician. Completed forms should be returned to the main office of the child's school.
