Congratulations to Ms. Kennedy who received News Channel 15’s Golden Apple Award. This award is given to teachers for their dedication and commitment to the profession. The award presentation will air tonight, September 2^nd at 6:00 on News Channel 15.

Jefferson Middle School teacher Lynn Srull is one of only 100 applicants in the United States to win an ING Unsung Heroes Award. She was recently awarded a $2,000 ING Unsung Heroes Award for an innovative teaching idea. The winning entries can be found at www.ing.com/us/unsungheroes Srull now has a chance of winning $5,000, $15,000, or $25,000 more in grant funds if her entry is selected as one of the top three innovative ideas in the nation. Srull, a PE Teacher at Jefferson, wrote the grant to purchase kayaks and canoes to be used by Jefferson students, Franklin, and the two high schools.

Parents and Students can now access grades online. Go to http://hac.champaignschools.org/homeaccess/ and enter your username and password that you received during registration. Student usernames and passwords are different than parent username and passwords and will be given to students in their homerooms.

You must enter the username exactly as it appears in this letter. Be sure to choose the Cusd#4 district on the pull down menu

Once logged in you can opt to receive weekly email updates about your student’s attendance and grades. (if you have an updated email address in our system) In the upper right hand side of the page. See attachment for directions.

It's Here, Home Access Center!

Home Access Center provides an online grade book where parents and guardians can view helpful student information to support and guide their children through the educational process. From home or work, at any time of the day or night, parents can access the Web portal to track academic achievement through their student’s test scores, report card, attendance records, and class assignments. Jefferson Middle School exemplifies the best of AVID in a school wide setting. It has a warm, welcoming and student centered campus where the college going culture is evident in classes, offices and common areas. Homework Hotline

Parents are also reminded that daily assignments can be checked by calling into the JMS homework hotline. Each team posts the daily assignments to a voicemail that can be heard by calling 351.3791 and the extensions below.
