Cross-Country News!
Practice starts Monday, August 4th @ Jefferson. We will
meet at 8:00 a.m. and will practice for one-hour. Please
bring a water bottle with you and a good pair of running
shoes. Sports Physicals are available at the main
office; and must be filled out before you are officially
on the team. Our first meet is Saturday, August 23rd @
Robeson Park, hosted by Edison Middle School. Jefferson
is also hosting a meet this year on Thursday,
September 11th....volunteers are needed! Please e-mail

Congratulation to Dr. Mueller:
The
Jefferson Middle School 7th & 8th Grade String Orchestra
was awarded the Best of Day Award - Instrumental at
the IESA Area 11 Music Organization Contest at Homer
Heritage on Saturday, April 26th. Their
performance earned them a Division I rating. They were
the lone orchestra among eight area bands participating
in the instrumental division of the contest. The JMS
Orchestra is composed of 29 string players from the JMS
7th and 8th grade string classes. This is the first time
that the JMS Orchestra has received this award. The
group is led by Rodney Mueller, JMS String
Teacher/Orchestra Director
Scholastic Bowl Team Advances to STATE!
Jefferson's
Scholastic Bowl won their sectional tournament Monday
night
by beating 3 teams who were all regional champions.
They are now one
of the top 16 teams in the state out of the 348 schools
that participated in regional and sectional tournaments.
The 18-1 Jaguars
are coached by Jen White and
Cara Gutzmer, and are now headed to their first state
tournament in the school's history.
Online Grades and Communication
Parents can check their child's progress online. All
you need to know is their teacher's name, class period,
and your students password. (Teachers can give you the
password) Simply go to the
JMS teams page click on the link marked grade
book. This will open the teacher's online grades or the
combined team grade book.

Parents are also reminded that daily assignments can be
checked by calling into the JMS homework hotline. Each
team posts the daily assignments to a voicemail that can
be heard by calling 351.3791 and the extensions
