Welcome, Key Communicators!
Key Communicators fill a vital role of increasing the quality of communications between our district and the community members we serve. We are grateful for the time and effort extended by our current and past Key Communicators.  They have kept us informed of the desires and concerns of the Champaign community.

The Key Communicator Network (KCN) is an email group that receives updates from the Community Relations Department, including breaking news from Unit 4 Schools. If you would like to be added to the KCN email group, please contact Miriam Kauffman in the Community Relations Department with your email address. You can reach Miriam at kauffmmi@champaignschools.org

About Key Communicators

The Key Communicator Network is a network of people representing all segments of the public.  Through this network the district can share information, gain feedback, collect feedback on program needs, counter misinformation, and keep in touch with the concerns of the community.

Who is a Key Communicator?

A Key Communicator is someone who is involved in and has credibility within the community.

What is the Role of a Key Communicator?

Key Communicators are asked to participate as individuals and as representatives of clubs, neighborhood civic groups, etc. Key Communicators should:

  • Let their communities (neighborhoods, clubs, companies) know that the district needs their input.

  • Keep current with events in their communities and provide feedback to the district regarding community perceptions of the district.

  • Share information presented at Key Communicator meetings with their particular communities.

  • Be available to provide input on issues of importance to the school district.

  • Consider the role of Key Communicator as advisory in nature.

  • Encourage the involvement of both parents and non-parents in the education process.

  • Attend Supper with the Superintendent events hosted by Dr. Judy Wiegand.
