Board of Education Approves CFT Contract

At a special meeting on Thursday, the Unit 4 Board of Education approved a new two-year contract with the Champaign Federation of Teachers (CFT), which had expired on June 30, 2016.  The District and CFT reached a Tentative Agreement on September 21, 2016 and CFT membership ratified the agreement on September 28, 2016. 

“We value our educators tremendously and are pleased to have a fair contract in place,” said Board of Education President Chris Kloeppel. “We appreciate the hard work of the CFT negotiating team as they advocated for their membership in this process. This contract is a result of give and take on both sides, always with the best interest of our students in mind.”   

The new contract language includes: 

  • provisions for contributions towards single, employee+1, and family health insurance premiums
  • a stipend for Licensed Clinical Social Workers
  • the addition of a middle school softball differential
  • afterschool clubs at the elementary & middle school levels
  • 403(b) plan structure
  • increased plan and/or collaboration time for Interventionists, ELL teachers, and middle school Functional Life Skills teachers
  • Professional Development Hours (PDH) for teachers
  • lesson plans
  • faculty meeting dates and times
  • other changes to contract language  

The salary schedule will be adjusted as follows:

  • Year 1 – Step Increase + 2.25% to each cell and 4% for all teachers “off schedule”
  • Year 2 – Step Increase + 2.25% to each cell and 4% for all teachers “off schedule”

The contract will be amended to include these provisions and, when available, will be posted on the District website.
