Beauty & the Beast at the Virginia

Thu, 10/20/2016 - 1:35pm

Champaign’s Central & Centennial High School Drama Programs (C2 Productions), in collaboration with the Champaign Park District and Champaign Unit 4 Schools, return to the Virginia November 9-13 with Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, this full-Broadway version features a live orchestra and student performers from two acclaimed high school drama departments.
Tickets can be purchased on the Virginia website, www.thevirginia.org. Costs range from $7-$15. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets early as last year's performances sold out.
All of the principal characters were double cast to save vocal quality with so many performances, giving more Unit 4 students the opportunity to perform on the stage of the Virginia. The diverse cast is a great example of the exceptional musicians, dancers, and actors from both high schools. The show will also feature a live orchestra made up of student musicians.
After the successful inaugural production of The Little Mermaid last school year, Directors Sue Aldridge and LaDonna Wilson are excited to collaborate once again with students from both programs.  Aldirdge will be directing the show, as she plans to retire at the close of the school year. Wilson is producing the show.
