Champaign Unit 4 School District would like to recognize the members of its Board of Education in celebration School Board Members Day in Illinois, which is November 15. Unit 4 is joining other districts across the state to thank these community volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools.

Champaign Schools extends our thanks to our Board of Education members:

Christopher Kloeppel
Amy Armstrong
Kathy Shannon
Jonathan Westfield
Kathy Richards
Lynn Stuckey
Gianina Baker

Champaign Schools would also like to thank the three student ambassadors to the Board of Education from Central and Centennial High Schools:

Khalfani Maatuka
Alec Campbell
Senia Hernandez-Mapson

School Board members serve countless hours working to make public education the best it can be for every child. In a climate of change and challenge, they develop policies and make tough decisions on educational and social issues that affect the entire community and the lives of individual students. They bear responsibility and oversight in Unit 4 for an annual budget of $152 million, more than 10,000 students in grades pre-K through 12, more than 1,800 employees, and 19 campuses.

In honor of School Board Member Day, Board of Education members will receive a small token of appreciation from the District, a $50 donation on behalf of each Board Member and student ambassador's choice as part of the District’s annual United Way Combined Charities Campaign, and the opportunity to donate their favorite children's book to the school of their choice. Board member will be able to indicate their choices to Stephanie Stuart, Director of Communications & Community Relations.

Please join us in thanking our Board of Education for their service!
