Board Names Principal for Carrie Busey

The Champaign Unit 4 Board of Education has named Zanita Willis as principal of Carrie Busey Elementary School for the 2006-07 school year.  Ms. Willis is currently the Instructional Specialist for Stratton Elementary School.  She will replace Kristin Camp, who requested to return to teaching and will serve as the Science/Health Coordinator for the District next year.

 Ms. Willis’ degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois and a Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University.  She received her Advanced Certificate in Education, Organization and Leadership from the University of Illinois.  Ms. Willis is currently a candidate for Doctor of Education in Administration degree at the University of Illinois.

Ms. Willis has served as a teacher with Unit #4 Schools since 1996.  Her assignments include elementary classroom teacher at Robeson Elementary and Enrichment Specialist at Stratton Elementary.  Prior to her employment with Unit #4, she was an elementary teacher with Mohawk Elementary in Park Forest, Illinois.  In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Willis has served as Assistant Principal for the 2004 Summer Bridges Program, Principal for the 2005 Middle School Summer Learning Program, and will serve as the 2006 Summer Migrant and Special Education Principal.

Ms. Willis has also served as a professional development provider, literacy coach, cooperating teacher, and parent workshop provider.  She is the recipient of the Illinois State Board of Education “Those Who Excel Award for Meritorious Service”, a Champaign-Urbana Schools Foundation Grant, and a Tepper Electric Grant.
