Career and Technical Education at a New Central and Renovated Centennial

At tonight's Board of Education meeting, Marc Changnon, District Coordinator for Career Programs, presented on the vision for the Career & Technical Education programming that would be offered at a new Central High School and a renovated/expanded Centennial High School.

The proposed new Central High School and renovated/expanded Centennial High School would provide students and teachers with 21st Century classrooms and make room for new academic program offerings. A number of community partners were present, including Corrinne Hillard with HL Precision Manufacturing​, Nick Elder from Education for Employment #330​, and Matt Langendorf from the East Central Illinois Building & Construction Trades Council to share about opportunities to build on current partnerships in the new/renovated facilities. 

Career & Technical Education programs offered today at our high schools include:

  • Central High School – includes Business, Family & Consumer Science, Industrial Technology
  • Centennial High School – includes Business, Family & Consumer Science

A new Central High School and renovated/expanded Centennial High School could offer courses and build on existing community partnerships in the following areas:

  • Manufacturing
  • Building Trades
  • Auto-mechanics
  • Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
  • Robotics
  • Broadcast Journalism
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Health Professions
