School Board Member Day 2016

Champaign Unit 4 School District would like to recognize the members of its Board of Education in celebration School Board Members Day in Illinois, which is November 15. Unit 4 is joining other districts across the state to thank these community volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools.

Board of Education Approves CFT Contract

At a special meeting on Thursday, the Unit 4 Board of Education approved a new two-year contract with the Champaign Federation of Teachers (CFT), which had expired on June 30, 2016.  The District and CFT reached a Tentative Agreement on September 21, 2016 and CFT membership ratified the agreement on September 28, 2016. 

Unit 4's Kloeppel and Franklin Make List of Top 40 Young Professionals

Unit 4 Board of Education President Chris Kloeppel and Jefferson Middle School Principal Angi Franklin have been named as two of Central Illinois Business Magazine’s Forty Under 40. Ms. Franklin has been selected as the program’s Woman of the Year and will give remarks at an awards luncheon on October 6 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign.

The awards recognize young professionals for their achievements in their careers, leadership ability and dedication to community service.

UPDATED: Board of Education Coffee & Conversation Sessions on July 25 & 26

On Monday, July 25, 2016, Board of Education representatives Amy Armstrong and Dr. Gianina Baker will be available for coffee and conversation about school facilities and other topics at Art Mart Cafe (1705 S Prospect Ave, Champaign) from 9-11 a.m.

On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, Board of Education members Kathy Richards and Kathy Shannon will host another coffee and conversation session at the Champaign Public Library from 4:30-6:30 p.m.in the cafe area. 

Board of Education to Hold Public Interviews for Vacant Board Position

 The Board of Education will interview eight candidates next Monday to select its newest member. Interviews will be held February 1, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Mellon Administrative Center. 
 
The individual selected will serve until April 2017, fulfilling the remainder of member Laurie Bonnet’s term. Bonnet announced her resignation earlier this month.
