District to Collaborate for Halloween Event at Garden Hills

The City of Champaign has scheduled traditional trick or treat hours for 6-8 PM on Monday, October 31. Plans are underway by the CommUnity Matters Collaboration between the City of Champaign, Champaign Park District, United Way of Champaign County and Champaign Unit 4 Schools for some alternatives to traditional trick or treating. These events will be held at the Champaign Park District Douglass Center from 3-9 PM on Monday, October 31 and at Garden Hills Elementary School from 5-7 PM on Monday, October 31. Structured activities and treats will be provided for children of all ages.

Garden Hills Homework Club Wins Award

The Garden Hills Homework Club was honored with an Award of Excellence on Saturday, October 22, at the Illinois State Board of Education "Those Who Excel" banquet in Bloomington-Normal. Pictured are Lauren Smith, Unit 4's Community Outreach Coordinator, along with Marsha Reardon and Brian Nudelman of Parkland College. The Garden Hills Homework Club is a collaboration between Parkland and Unit 4 to provide afterschool tutoring for students at Garden Hills Elementary School.

Garden Hills Dedication Scheduled for October 5

The Champaign Unit 4 Board of Education will dedicate the newly renovated and expanded Garden Hills Elementary School on Wednesday, October 5, at a ceremony beginning at 6:00 PM in the new gymnasium at the school, located at 2001 Garden Hills Drive, Champaign, Illinois.

District Awarded $5 Million Magnet Grant

The Champaign Community Unit School District 4 (Unit 4) has been notified that it has been awarded a grant in excess of $5 million dollars by the U.S. Department of Education. 

Garden Hills Plans Dedication and Celebration

The community is invited to join in the dedication and celebration of the newly expanded and renovated Garden Hills Elementary School on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 6 PM.
