Summer Construction Projects Underway

Throughout the Champaign Unit 4 School District, construction is occurring this summer.

Westview, Bottenfield, Kenwood and Robeson Elementary Schools will all receive new windows this summer. Not only will this improve the appearance of these buildings, but new windows will produce significant energy savings for the District. Lowering energy costs helps to keep dollars in the classrooms and improve learning conditions for students.

By Jodi Heckel

CHAMPAIGN – Children at Garden Hills Elementary School read "The Two Bobbies" this year, a true story about a dog and a blind cat that survived Hurricane Katrina, and after four months of wandering, were rescued by a shelter and eventually adopted.

The story demonstrates the concept of caring, one of the attributes or "learner profiles" that children will be expected to develop as part of the school's magnet theme.
