Champaign Unit 4 kindergarten lottery

Six hundred fifty-five students participated in the Champaign Unit 4 kindergarten lottery in March making this the largest group of participants since the implementation of School Choice in 1998-99.  According to Hattie Paulk, Director of the Marshall K. Berner Family Information Center, an additional 39 kindergarten students have registered bringing the total number to 694.

Key Communicator Network Meeting

The last Key Communicator Network meeting for the current school year is scheduled for Monday, May 1 at 6:00 p.m. at the Mellon Administration Center’s Board Room, 703 S. New Street, Champaign. Through the KCN the District can share information, gain feedback, counter misinformation, collect feedback on program needs, and keep in touch with the concerns of the community.

Dr. Howard Elementary School Meets Annual Yearly Progress After Tests Are Rescored By The Illinois State Board Of Education

In a recent report released by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), Dr. Howard Elementary school was reclassified as 1 of the 10 elementary schools in Champaign that met Annual Yearly Progress after a formal review of students standardized test scores for 2005.  The revised AYP Status Report indicates that 70.9% of all students met state standards in the area of reading and 83.8 % of all students met state standards in the area of math.
