Chickscope in Our
Class!
Index of Website
This project provides opportunities for
students in grades 4-6 to design investigations based on scientific
approaches. It is in conjunction with the ChickScope Project at the
University of Illinois. See Chickscope.
The teaching and learning strategies offered in this project
incorporate interaction with the internet, problem solving through
cooperative learning and hands-on experimentation, using inquiry
approaches, as well as collaboration with other students outside the
classroom using CU-SeeMe software. In addition, students use MRI
(magnetic resonance imaging) which offers realtime data to help them
predict and analyze data via Beckman Institute. This project is also
part of an animal exploration unit which allows students in grades 4
-6 opportunities to design investigations based on scientific
approaches to determine what each class of vertebrate animal needs to
survive and reproduce. For more details of this unit, see
