Middle school students will work toward mastering the following standards:
Standard 1: Claim
Performance Indicators:
- Make a claim in order to answer compelling and supporting questions.
- Recall and synthesize unit content knowledge to communicate ideas about the world.
- Develop compelling and supporting questions about the world.
Standard 2: Evidence
Performance Indicators:
- Identify and analyze the essential components of primary and secondary sources.
- Find evidence in order to defend a claim.
- Evaluate evidence to decide whether it supports a claim or counterclaim.
Standard 3: Reasoning
Performance Indicators:
- Interpret primary and secondary sources within their historical, economical, geographical, and political context.
- Justify and explain claims with evidence from primary and secondary sources.
Standard 4: Action
Performance Indicators:
- Apply historical knowledge to identify and explain connections between past and present.
- Develop, evaluate, and defend a course of action to address real world needs or challenges.
