Unit 4 Archery Teams Excel at State Competition

This weekend, teams from Unit 4's Jefferson Middle School, along with Central and Centennial High Schools, competed--and succeeded--at the Illinois State Championship Archery Tournament. As a result of this weekend's outstanding performance, Unit 4 will send seven qualifying teams, or 168 students to the national competition in Louisville, KY in May. 
For the fourth consecutive year, Jefferson Middle School's Gold Team won the Middle School Division State Championship, with its Black Team placing third and Blue Team placing fourth out of the 14 middle school teams competing. 
Champaign Central High School placed second and Centennial High School placed third in the High School Division out of 23 teams. 
Here are highlights from this weekend's accomplishments: 

Five of the top 10 shooters in the state are Unit 4 students

#2 – Central High School Student Spencer Weis
#3 – Jefferson Middle School Student Ben Kirkland
#7 – Centennial High School Student William McNattin
#9 – Jefferson Middle School Student Elena Johnson

The State Middle School Division Champion for Boys was Jefferson Middle School Student Ben Kirkland.
Three of the top five female students in the State Middle School Division are Unit 4 students

Two of the top five male students in the State High School Division are Unit 4 students

#1 - Ben Hannauer, Centennial High School 
#2- Spencer Weis, Central High School 

Three of the top five female students in the State High School Division are Unit 4 students

#2 - Allison Reiling, Central High School
#4 - Chikako Barnes Central High School
#5 - Taylor Sigler, Centennial High School
