Annual Kick-Off Celebration For Youth Employment Program

Fri, 06/02/2017 - 4:31pm

The Champaign Unit 4 Schools Youth Employment Program will host its annual kick-off celebration on Monday, June 5 in the Centennial High School Auditorium from
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Students enrolled in the program, business partners and the community are invited to mark the beginning of our summer job experience.

The keynote speaker for the event is Bruce Brown, Champaign Unit 4 Board of Education member. Dr. Judy Wiegand, Superintendent for Champaign Schools and Deborah Frank Feinen, Mayor for the City of Champaign, will present welcoming remarks.

The Youth Employment Program provides job training and career exploration opportunities to youth in Champaign Unit 4 Schools through the completion of a six-week job placement program with a local business. Currently in its sixth year, staff work with over 50 local businesses and will serve approximately 102 students. The program is a collaborative effort between the City of Champaign and the Champaign Unit 4 School District.
