Volunteer for the Austin Cloyd Day of Service on April 6

Thu, 03/21/2019 - 2:12pm

In an effort to honor Austin Cloyd’s commitment to community service, Centennial High School is proud to announce the 12th annual Austin Cloyd’s Day of Service on April 6, 2019, hosted by the Interact Club.

Austin Cloyd grew up in Champaign-Urbana and was a member of Interact while at Centennial. Tragically, she was a victim of the Virginia Tech shooting on April 16, 2007. The Interact Club strives to continue her legacy through community service.

The public is invited to participate and volunteer in this event on April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Shifts will run in two hour time slots from 9:30-11:30, 11:30-1:30, and 1:30-3:30. Some of the organizations that will be involved in Austin’s Day are:

  • Champaign Unit 4 schools
  • Champaign Park District
  • The Humane Society
  • Courage Connections
  • Evergreen Place
  • Daily Bread Soup Kitchen

Volunteers can register online at www.austinsday.com. Group and Individual registration options are available.

New this year! If volunteers pre-register by April 2, they DO NOT need to go to Centennial High School first. Volunteers will receive their t-shirt and supplies at their locations. Volunteers will receive an email with their locations within 24 hours of the event.

If you have questions, please contact Alyssa Anderson at Centennial High School, andersaly@u4sd.org.
