Board of Education approves two administrative positions

Champaign Unit 4 School District welcomes two new administrators: Erika Marion has been selected as Director of Kids Plus, and David Brauer has been selected as Director of Communications.

Erika Marion has been selected as Director of Kids Plus beginning May 6, 2019.

A life-long resident of Champaign-Urbana, Marion returns to the community after a year away serving as an Executive Assistant with Cerner Corporation in Kansas City, MO.

Before relocating to Kansas City, she served two years with Unit 4 Schools as the Assistant Director of Kids Plus. Prior to that, Marion served the Kids Plus program as an Activity Leader, Assistant Site Director, and Site Director. She also worked as an Assistant with Joseph H. Lierman Law Offices in Champaign.   

Marion holds an Associate of Science in Secondary Education from Parkland College. In May of 2019, Marion will complete her Bachelor of Science in Organizational and Professional Development from Eastern Illinois University.

David Brauer has been selected as Director of Communications, a position that has been vacant since mid-February 2019.

Originally from Champaign County, Brauer brings 15 years of public relations experience in state government, the sports industry and higher education. He currently serves the Wisconsin Department of Revenue as the Marketing Communications Supervisor for the Wisconsin State Lottery. In this position, Brauer is the organization’s spokesperson and is responsible for developing and administering marketing strategies and campaigns, including budgeting, social media, external communications, advertising, brand messaging and staff supervision.

From 2008 to 2018, Brauer worked with The Summit League as Assistant Commissioner for Communications. The Summit League, based in Sioux Falls, SD,

offers 19 championship sports and has a combined enrollment of nearly 115,000 at nine institutions. At The Summit League, Brauer managed a communications team, fielded media inquiries, promoted events, and increased visibility through multiple media platforms. Brauer also has communications experience with Northern Illinois University, Purdue University, and the University of South Carolina.

Brauer, a Tolono native and University of Illinois graduate, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Sports & Tourism from UIUC.
