Unit 4 midweek update (3/25/20)

Wed, 03/25/2020 - 4:56pm

Hello Unit 4 Families | Bonjour Familles de l’Unit 4 | Hola Familias de la Unidad 4

I wanted to take a moment to check in with all of you as we reach the end of our first week of learning at home. I know this has been a stressful and emotional couple of weeks for everyone. I want to thank all of you for your continued patience and flexibility as we all work to navigate this together.

Unit 4’s priority during this time is to support our students and families socially, emotionally and academically. This week included:

  • Providing food to District families.
  • Providing students with  "at home learning" resources. While not mandatory, these resources were provided so families have the option to keep students engaged and learning.
  • Teachers are collaborating on remote learning for the week of March 30 and beyond.
  • The District is working to close the technology gap by ensuring all high school students have access to a Chromebook.

Going forward, Unit 4 aims to continue focusing on Care and Comfort through:

  • The start of at home learning plans, ensuring those without technology have options to learn at home as well.
  • We are working to close the technology gap for K-8 households without a Chromebook.
  • Continuing meal distribution. This includes our three pickup locations as well home delivery.
  • We are also gathering school supplies to hand out during food distribution to those households who may need them.

Building principals and teachers will also be communicating with families as our remote learning begins. We understand our families have differing needs and we continue to work to make sure everyone has the opportunity to learn during this time.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your building principal if you have any questions or concerns. We will provide more in-depth guidance soon. Please take care of yourselves during this time.
