Local Trades to Support Builders Club at Jefferson Middle School

Mon, 12/17/2012 - 12:00am

This week, Dan McCall, President of the Bricklayers Local #8, will present a check to Jefferson Middle School in support of their new Builders Club.

The Builders Club will give students the opportunity to learn practical skills and explore future careers such as carpentry, plumbing, electricity, and masonry while still at Jefferson. Funds from the Bricklayers Local #8 will be used to purchase supplies for the students to get started.

Marc Changnon, District Coordinator for Education to Careers and Professions, said this partnership with the local trades is invaluable for the students at Jefferson.

“Career and Technical Education here in Unit 4 plays a vital role in helping students become competitive in the 21st Century workforce,” said Changnon. “We are so grateful for this support from the Bricklayers of the Jefferson Builders Club and hope to continue building our partnerships with the community. The more exposure and training we can provide to our students, the brighter their futures will be.”

A check presentation will take place Wednesday morning at the school.
