Six Administrative Appointments Approved by Unit 4 School Board

The Unit 4 Board of Education approved six administrative appointments at its Monday meeting.

Mr. Jeron Blood has been appointed to the position of Interim Associate Principal of Edison Middle School. This position is currently vacant due to the year-long military leave of current Associate Principal Yvette Lane-Rose.  District administration recommends that this vacancy by filled on an interim basis for the 2016-2017 school year.

U4 Middle School Students Learn Rapid Prototyping

This year, approximately 90 Unit 4 middle school students have learned about rapid prototyping by using the TinkerCAD program to design and 3D print keychains. This opportunity has been part of a a partnership with University of Illinois Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate student Kitt Peterson and MechSE’s Education Coordinator, Joe Muskin, who designed a curriculum to support this work. 

Unit 4 Archery Teams Excel at State Competition

This weekend, teams from Unit 4's Jefferson Middle School, along with Central and Centennial High Schools, competed--and succeeded--at the Illinois State Championship Archery Tournament. As a result of this weekend's outstanding performance, Unit 4 will send seven qualifying teams, or 168 students to the national competition in Louisville, KY in May. 

Middle School Music Achievements

Edison, Franklin and Jefferson music students took 138 total events to the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday, February 20. They earned 111 Division I (Excellent) Ratings and 27 Division II (Good) Ratings.  In addition, 14 Best Of Day awards were named and Champaign students earned 7 of them.  These are awarded by the judge in each performance room to the event that they felt was the best performance of the entire day.
