Annual Kick-Off Celebration For Youth Employment Program

The Champaign Unit 4 Schools Youth Employment Program will host its annual kick-off celebration on Monday, June 5 in the Centennial High School Auditorium from
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Students enrolled in the program, business partners and the community are invited to mark the beginning of our summer job experience.

The keynote speaker for the event is Bruce Brown, Champaign Unit 4 Board of Education member. Dr. Judy Wiegand, Superintendent for Champaign Schools and Deborah Frank Feinen, Mayor for the City of Champaign, will present welcoming remarks.

Summer Youth Employment Program Kick-Off 2016

The Champaign Summer Youth Employment Program's Kick-Off Celebration will be held on Monday, June 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Centennial High School. 

The program, now in its sixth year, will place 100 Unit 4 high school students at 40+ employers in the community to gain within their career interest areas.

Summer Youth Employment Program

It’s time to start thinking about 2016’s Summer Youth Employment Program! Whether you’re a high school student or part of a local business, now is the time to get involved in helping us build bridges to meaningful employment for Champaign’s youth.  Applications have gone out to students with an extended due date of Friday, March 4. If you or someone you know is interested in getting an application or becoming an employer, you can contact the S.Y.E.P. Supervisor, Mindy Smith, at (217) 531-6857. Kick-off will be held in early June, and employment dates are June 20-July 29.

Merry-Ann's Event Raises $9,000 in Support of Summer Youth Employment Program

On June 1 & 2, Merry-Ann's Diner hosted the second annual Celebrity Server and Chef Fundraiser in support of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). One hundred percent of the fundraiser's proceeds were donated to the program. 

Last year, the event raised over $6,000 thanks to the community's support. This year's donations have been tallied and the effort raised a record-breaking $9,002.18 in support of SYEP!

The Summer Youth Employment Program will host its Opening Ceremony on Monday, June 8 in the Centennial High School Auditorium from 1-2 p.m.
