Jefferson Teacher Named as Finalist for Teacher of the Year Award

Champaign Unit 4 School District is pleased to announce that Jefferson Middle School social studies teacher Christine Adrian is one of nine finalists for the 2012-13 Illinois Teacher of the Year award, a program of the Illinois State Board of Education. The Teacher of the Year finalists are selected from nominees through the State Board of Education’s Those Who Excel educator recognition program.

Centennial educator among eight finalists for state teacher of the year

CHAMPAIGN – A Centennial High School teacher is among eight finalists for the Teacher of the Year award from the Illinois State Board of Education.

Susan Thomas, who teaches social studies, was nominated for the award by Ryan Remole, a counselor at Centennial.

Jefferson Middle School Teacher Christine Adrian Selected As Illinois History Teacher Of The Year

Congratulations to Jefferson Middle School teacher Christine Adrian who has been selected as the Illinois History Teacher of the year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Founded in 1994, the Gilder Lehrman Institute is a nonprofit organization that supports the study and love of American history through a wide range of programs and resources for students, teachers, scholars, and history enthusiasts throughout the nation.

Bottenfield P.E. Teacher Wendy Huckstadt Awarded Eastern District IAHPERD Teacher of the Year Award

Congratulations to Bottenfield elementary physical education teacher Wendy Huckstadt who was awarded the Eastern District Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (IAHPERD), Teacher of the Year Award on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. This award is given in recognition of Mrs. Huckstadt’s support of the physical education program at Bottenfield.

Champaign Wal-Mart Honors Bottenfield Teacher With Teacher Of The Year Award

For the third year in a row a Champaign Unit # 4 local educator has been recognized by the Wal-Mart Corporation for excellence in education. Renayee Westfield, a fifth-year teacher at Bottenfield Elementary School in Champaign was recently named the 2008 Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year by the Champaign Wal-Mart Center. The award was given as part of Wal-Mart’s 13th annual Teacher of the Year Program. Ms. Westfield received a check in the amount of $1,000.00 for Bottenfield.
