Unit 4 LogoThe Unit 4 Board of Education approved four administrative appointments during its July 11th meeting.

Ms. Flora Denton was appointed as Assistant Director of Food Services. Ms. Denton began her professional career as a Content Developer and Nutrition Analyst with Illinois Extension Diabetes Lifelines (April 2020-August 2021). She also has other related experience as a Researcher with Community Nutrition Lab (December 2018-August 2021), Food Service Dietetic Intern with University of Illinois Dining Services (October 2021-December 2021), and most recently as Project Coordinator/Researcher with the Division of Nutritional Sciences (June 2021-May 2022).

Ms. Denton holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics (2020) and a Master of Science in Human Nutrition (2022), both from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She will begin her position on July 12.

Dr. Alyssa Pavlakis was appointed as Assistant Principal of Dr. Howard Elementary School. Dr. Pavlakis began her teaching career in August 2015, when she joined Urbana Middle School as a 6th Grade English/Language Arts Teacher. In 2016, she became an English Teacher with Urbana High School.

Dr. Pavlakis holds a Bachelor of Arts in English & Rhetoric with a minor in Secondary Education (2015), a Master of Education in Educational Organization, Policy, and Leadership (2019), and a Doctorate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Educational Policy (2022), all from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She will join the District on August 1.

Ms. Jennifer Tee was appointed as Assistant Principal of Kenwood Elementary School. Ms. Tee began her teaching career when she joined Unit 4 Schools in December 1993, and has served the District for the past 25 years. During this time she has worked as a Kindergarten Teacher, 1st Grade Teacher, 2nd Grade Teacher, 2nd Grade Gifted Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Reading Recovery Teacher at Carrie Busey Elementary, Kenwood Elementary, and Robeson Elementary. Jennifer is currently an Instructional Coach/RtI Interventionist at Kenwood Elementary.

Ms. Tee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University (1993). Ms. Tee will complete her Master of Education in Educational Leadership in July 2022 at Eastern Illinois University. The effective date of Ms. Tee’s appointment is July 1.

Ms. Tiffany Williams was appointed as Assistant Principal of Edison Middle School. Ms. Williams began her teaching career in August 2011 when she joined Mattoon Community Unit School District #2, a district she has served for the past 11 years. During her time with Mattoon Schools she served as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher, Interim Alternative Education Teacher, and Interim Dean of Students.

Ms. Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Teaching (2010) and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership (2016), both from Eastern Illinois University. She will join Unit 4 Schools in August.
