The Champaign Unit 4 Board of Education approved three administrative appointments during its June 13th meeting. 

Bridget Hughes was appointed as Assistant Principal of Stratton Academy. Ms. Hughes began her career in education in August 2010 as a Kindergarten Teacher at Davenport Elementary School in Eureka, Illinois. From August 2011-May 2013, she was a Middle School Teacher at Holy Cross School in Champaign. Bridget then accepted a position as a 7th Grade Language Arts Teacher at Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School in Mahomet, IL in August 2013. Joining Unit 4 Schools in October 2014, Ms. Hughes served as an Extended Day and Interim Second Grade Teacher at Kenwood Elementary School, and a 5th Grade Gifted Teacher at Stratton Academy. After relocating to Wisconsin in August 2017, Bridget joined West Milwaukee Intermediate School as a Technology Integrator. She then accepted a position as a Library Media Teacher with Kenosha Unified School District for the 2018-2019 school year. In July 2019, Ms. Hughes rejoined Unit 4 Schools as an Elementary Librarian at Kenwood Elementary, a position she held for a year. She is currently a Magnet Instructional Coach at Stratton Academy. Bridget will leave this position to become an Assistant Principal of Stratton Academy on August 1, 2022. 

Ms. Hughes earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (2010), a Master of Science in Education Policy Organization and Leadership (2015), and a Master of Science in Library Information Sciences (2018), all from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Cessily Thomas was appointed as Dean of Students at Centennial High School. Ms. Thomas began her career in education in January 2007 when she joined Unit 4 Schools as a Spanish Teacher at Centennial High School. Relocating to Joliet, IL in August 2007, she joined Joliet District 86 as a Spanish Teacher. Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, Cessily sought a high school Spanish Teacher position with Rich South High School in Richton Park, IL. After two years of service with Rich South, Ms. Thomas rejoined Unit 4 Schools as a Spanish/AVID Teacher at Centennial High School. She will leave this position to become Dean of Students at Centennial High School on August 1st. 
Ms. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages with Spanish Teacher Licensure from Eastern Illinois University (2006). She will complete her Master of Science in Educational Leadership in December 2022 at Eastern Illinois University.

Brian Alexander was appointed as Assistant Principal at Carrie Busey Elementary. Mr. Alexander began his career in education in August 2001 as a Special Education Teacher at Washington Elementary School in Clinton, Illinois. He served in this position for four school terms. He left education for one year but returned in August 2006 as a Special Education Teacher at Mt. Pulaski High School, where he served for five school terms. Brian then accepted a position with Heyworth High School as a Special Education Teacher. From February 2015-August 2016, he was a teacher for special education students at The Pavilion Day School in Champaign. Joining Unit 4 Schools in August 2016, Mr. Alexander has served as an ED/Self-Contained Teacher at Jefferson Middle School, a Special Education Teacher at Barkstall Elementary, a District ED Itinerant Teacher, one of the APs at Stratton Academy. He most recently was an Assistant Principal/Summer School Principal at Stratton Academy. He will begin his new position on August 1st. 

Mr. Alexander attended Lincoln Christian University for two years and then transferred to Illinois State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Deaf Education in December 2000 and his LBS1/Special Education licensure in August 2003. He earned his Master of Education in Educational Administration and Leadership in May 2020 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
