Dear Kenwood Families,
Happy Friday! Welcome back and thank you for a wonderful first week of school. It has been amazing to meet all our new students to Kenwood. I saw lots of joy and a few tears from our new Kindergarten parents these past few days. Today, we welcome all of our Kindergarten students. We've enjoyed getting to know each of them. We’ve had a few special visitors to Kenwood this week as members of our central office have stopped by to see the great things happening and this included a visit from our Acting Superintendent Mr. Casillas. This week, teachers have been working on routines and relationships. In the next several weeks, we will be doing our beginning of the year assessments with MAP for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade and mClass, a new tool for assessing our 1st and 2nd grade students.
Parent Drop Off at School
As we begin our 2nd week of school, parents will be asked to let students enter the building independently on their own as they know the locations of their classroom and the breakfast room. As teachers are settling into teaching their lessons, every minute counts. It can be difficult for teachers to begin lessons while answering questions or checking in with parents that could be answered through a preferred method of communication with your child’s teacher. If you have treats or We also want to ensure the safety and security of our building. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
Same-Day Transportation Changes and Early Check-Outs:
Any same-day transportation changes for your child must be called in to the Kenwood Office before 1:00 p.m. This allows time to communicate the message so that all parties can communicate the correct dismissal location. We respectfully ask parents to keep early check-outs for appointments to a minimum as they cause disruptions to learning.
Upon dismissal, students will exit the building. Parents may pick up their child at that time. Please do not enter the building before the bell rings unless you’ve notified the office with a valid reason for doing so.
Please take a moment to review our Kenwood Parent Handbook. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher or the office.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nadrozny
Principal
