At the October 23rd Unit 4 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved two administrative appointments.
Mr. Jerry “Mike” Sanderson was approved as the Director of Purchasing & Inventory.
From June 2001-October 2009, Mr. Sanderson worked as the Area Sales Manager with the Dr. Pepper-Snapple Group. In September 2009, he joined The Kraft-Heinz Company and has served the company for the past 14 years. During this time, he has worked as Bin Operator-Dinners Department, EE-Dinners Department, Inventory Control-Dinners Department, Materials Planner-Dinners Department, Materials Planner-Small Ingredients, and Processing Scheduling Lead-Dinner Department. Mike is currently the Production Scheduler in the Dinner Materials Department. Three of his positions at Kraft have been supervisory in nature. Mr. Sanderson will leave this position to join the District.
Ms. Brittany Furgeson was approved as the Assistant Principal at Dr. Howard Elementary.
Ms. Furgeson began her career in education in August 2017 when she joined Mexico Public Schools in Mexico, MO as a 2nd Grade Teacher, and later a 4th Grade Teacher. In August 2019, she joined Fulton Public Schools in Fulton, MO when she accepted a position as 5th Grade Teacher. Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, she became a 5th Grade Teacher with Ritenour School District in St. Louis, MO. For the past two years, Ms. Furgeson has worked as a 5th Grade Teacher at Jefferson City School District in Jefferson City, MO. She will leave this position to begin her first school administrator role at Dr. Howard Elementary.
Ms. Furgeson holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Missouri Valley College. She has a Master of Education in Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum and an Educational Specialist degree in Mental Health Practices in Schools, both from University of Missouri, Columbia. Ms. Furgeson has also earned a Graduate Certificate in School Administration and Supervision from Liberty University. She is currently enrolled at the Liberty University doctoral program in School Administration and Supervision. The effective date of this appointment is January 8, 2023 (tentatively).
