John Bain and Renayee Westfield

At this evening’s Board of Education meeting, two administrative appointments were approved. 

Mr. John Bain was approved as the Assistant Director of Transportation. He began his transportation career in March 2010 when he joined Community Bus Services in Trumbull County, OH as a Bus Driver. During his time with Community Bus Services he has worked as a Bus Driver, Dispatcher, Supervisor, and Director of Facilities. In January 2017, Mr. Bain accepted the position of Transportation Manager for North Allegheny Schools in Pittsburgh, PA. Beginning October 2019, he served as Director of Facilities at Lakeview Local Schools in Cortland, OH. From June 2022-March 2023, he was the Director of Auxiliary Services at Madison Metropolitan School District in Madison, WI. Mr. Bain has other supervisory experience as an Assistant Manager at Ace Hardware from 1999-2022. 

Mr. Bain holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science (2010) from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. He is well versed in Transportation Operations and will be an asset to the Transportation Department. 

Ms. Renayee Westfield was appointed as the Director of LIFT. She is currently in her 20th year of service to Champaign Unit 4 Schools. Ms. Westfield began her career here in 2004 as a 4th Grade Teacher at Bottenfield Elementary. This is also where she currently serves as

Assistant Principal/Summer School Principal, a position she has held since August of 2015. She was also the Assistant Principal at Franklin Middle School from 2013-2015.

Ms. Westfield holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. She earned her Master’s degree in Family and Consumer Science at Eastern Illinois University in 2006 and her Master’s in Educational Leadership, also from EIU, in May 2013. She is currently working towards a Doctorate in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion/Educational Policy & Organizational Leadership at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which she plans to complete in December 2024. 

Growing up in the community and serving for two decades in our schools, Ms. Westfield has a wealth of experience, knowledge, and insight that will bring a unique perspective to LIFT. Her knowledge and expertise regarding community, family needs, and educational preparation, which includes a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, will be an added benefit to the LIFT Program.
