At last night's Unit 4 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the appointment of Dr. Spencer Ferguson as the Middle School Athletic Director/Dean of Students at Franklin STEAM Academy.
Dr. Ferguson began his career in education when he joined Bradley County Schools in Cleveland, TN in August 2018. He has served there for the past five and a half years. During this time, he has worked as a Biology Teacher and most recently a Career and Technical Education Teacher. Dr. Ferguson will leave this position to join Unit 4.
Dr. Ferguson has other related experience as an Assistant Football Coach (2 years), Head Football Coach (2 years), and Offensive Coordinator (3 years). He has also coached summer travel league baseball (3 years) and soccer (1 year).
Dr. Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (2016), and a Master of Education from Lee University (2018). He also earned a Doctorate of Education in Administration and Leadership from Carson-Newman University (2023). The effective date of this appointment is January 9, 2024.
