Jack Barnhart won the IHSA heavyweight wrestling state championship on Sunday. Jack won his semifinal match by pin on Friday night. He is the first wrestler in Centennial High School history to make it to the IHSA Finals medal stand three times. He is now the second Charger to win the state championship in wrestling. Jack won the Class 2A title match 4-1 ending his season at 44-0.
The title match took place at State Farm Center at the University of Illinois, a home crowd filled with family and friends cheering on his accomplishments. Barnhart is a two-sport athlete, competing in both high school football and wrestling. A prep rally celebrating his historic victory will be at Centennial High School on Friday, February 23 at 2:35 p.m.
