Huge shout-out to Garden Hills Academy teacher Megan Nierenhasuen, who has been honored with a $1,000 Teacher Award through the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers initiative in partnership with the Big Ten Conference and Illinois Athletics!
Extra Yard for Teachers Week is all about elevating the teaching profession and giving back to educators who inspire, uplift, and make a lasting impact on their students. Megan embodies these values every day, bringing her passion and dedication into the classroom to create meaningful learning experiences for her students.
The celebration was made extra special when Fighting Illini Football student-athletes surprised Megan in her classroom today, not only delivering the award, but also stopping by classrooms and recess at Garden Hills to thank our teachers and greet students.
The student-athletes also delivered tickets for the Extra Yard for Teachers football game vs. Western Michigan on September 13, and an additional $1,000 to Dr. Asia Fuller for Garden Hills Academy, making this partnership with Illinois Athletics an unforgettable way to recognize our educators.
Please join us in congratulating Megan on this well-deserved recognition!
