Students from Champaign Central earned 3rd place at the Illinois State ACES (Academic Challenge in Engineering and Science) Competition, the highest finish in program history.

ACES is a rigorous academic competition that tests students across seven subject areas, including biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering graphics, and English. Team scores are determined by combining the top two scores in each subject area, emphasizing both individual excellence and collective performance.

Several students earned top individual honors at the state level:

  • Aaron Rubico — 1st Place, Chemistry; 1st Place, Engineering Graphics

  • Lynn Kim — 3rd Place, English

Students also delivered outstanding performances at the regional competition:
