During yesterday’s Unit 4 Board of Education meeting, the BOE appointed Mr. Brian Wipperman as the next principal at Dr. Howard Elementary School.
Mr. Wipperman began his career in education in July 2003 when he joined Intermediate School 162 in Brooklyn, NY as a Special Education Teacher. In September 2007, he accepted a Special Education Teacher position with Plainedge School District in Massapequa, NY, and held that position for six years. During the 2010-2011 school year, Mr. Wipperman served as Dean of Students in addition to his teaching position. Beginning with the 2013-2015 school year, he joined Wantagh School District in Wantagh, NY as Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services. After two years in that role, he became the Supervisor of Special Education at Sewanhaka Central High School District in Floral Park, NY. In July 2017, Mr. Wipperman relocated to Illinois and accepted the Vice President of Education position at Children’s Home Association of Illinois. From August 2019-June 2025, he left the education field. During that time, he held positions as Chief Executive Officer at Lifelong Access in Normal, IL and Sales Executive at Dimond Brothers in Bloomington, IL. In July 2025, Mr. Wipperman returned to education and joined Unit 4 Schools as Associate Principal/Summer School Principal at Jefferson Middle School.
Mr. Wipperman holds a Bachelor of Science in History (2000) from Molloy University in Rockville Centre, NY, and a Master of Science in Education (2006) from Queens College in Queens, NY. He also earned a Specialist in Education, School Leadership (2008) from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, MA.
The effective date of Mr. Wipperman’s appointment is July 1, 2026.
